Pet Places

How much do you love your animals? Enough to give them a whole area to themselves? What if we told you that’s not as crazy as it might seem? Here are five tips for giving your pets a place all their own.

1. CHOOSE A SPACE

Bigger isn’t always better when finding an area for your four-legged friends. Comfortable, cozy, enclosed spaces can be beneficial to your furry companions. Got any extra bedrooms, laundry rooms, large closets, or even just a corner of the basement? Perfect.

2. MAKE IT PET PROOF

Make sure you’re hiding anything hazardous to the pet, or anything you don’t want your pet destroying. Cleaning supplies, shoes, clothes, kids’ toys all need to be stored out of paws’ reach. And make sure that you set the thermostat for a safe temperature if you’re leaving the home.

3. ANIMAL AMBIENCE

Is there anything sadder to think about then little Fido at home all alone in total silence? Pamper your pet by leaving a radio or TV on during the day when you’re out of the home. Your pets might not understand Game of Thrones, but then again, we can barely remember all the characters ourselves.

4. A SPOT TO SNOOZE

Both dogs and cats spend over half the day sleeping, so make sure your pet place has a nice place to nod off. Much like investing in a good office chair, or a comfortable pair of shoes, a really nice pet bed will keep your pet partners healthy and spry. It’s not their fault they’re instinctively lazy.

5. SOMETHING TO DO

Much like teenagers, when they aren’t sleeping, they’re looking for something to do. And if that outlet isn’t provided, they’re going to get into trouble. Even the most aloof of cats can’t turn down a toy mouse. And we’ve never met a dog who’s met a chew toy they didn’t like.

And remember that giving your pet their own place isn’t a replacement for good ole tender loving care.
