New Year’s Resolutions
New year. New you. So why stick with the same old resolutions? Try out these four New Year’s resolutions for your home.
MAKE A CLEAN START
Resolutions don’t always have to be about breaking a bad habit. They can also be about creating good ones. And nothing will make your life easier than becoming a habitual cleaner.
Start by creating a cleaning schedule that separates tasks into daily, weekly, and monthly categories.
Daily chores will be small, like running the dishwasher or putting away laundry. Weekly chores will be more in-depth, like wiping down counters, cleaning the bathroom, and mopping or vacuuming floors. Monthly chores will be the least fun, like vacuuming drapes, cleaning behind appliances, and dusting ceiling fans.
Remember that every home is different, so put some thought into creating the perfect cleaning schedule for you.
SOCIALIZE MORE
Have you ever looked back on a year and lamented about how little time you got to spend with your friends and family? Avoid having those regrets a year from now by getting your home ready for
easy entertaining today.
Arrange your furniture in a way that encourages sociability and conversation. Having the right furniture layout is especially important in open concept homes, where one misplaced sofa can take a home from warm and inviting to cold and closed-off.
MANAGE HOME FINANCIALS
It’s never too late to learn something, and knowing exactly how things like home insurance and mortgage rates work will keep you ahead of the bell curve.
As always, make sure you’re checking your credit reports for discrepancies and stay on the ball with all of your payments.
Managing money can seem both simple and impossible. Tip the scales towards the former by trying to learn just a little bit more about home financials in 2018.
SAVE THE WORLD
And save a little dough, too.
Going green gets easier and easier every year. In fact, if you live in a Bielinski Home, you’re already pretty darn green.
Here are some other ways to look out for Mother Earth, and save on your bills:
- Use smart-home technology to control your lighting fixtures and HVAC systems so you’re not wasting precious energy when nobody’s home.
- Switch to low-flow appliances and fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom to save water.
- Start recycling and composting regularly.
None of these things require a huge lifestyle change, and every single one will not only save the planet, but they’ll save you money, too.
