2019 Trends Check In
By Rebecca Wardon, Interior Design Manager
In January we shared some trends that we thought would show up in 2019. Let’s look back and see which ones made it big, which ones have evolved, and which ones are on the rise.
WHAT STUCK
Some of the trends we predicted would be big in 2019 really have taken off. True white is everywhere. Cabinets, woodwork, counters, backsplashes. People are really embracing this clean, bright choice. Navy cabinets have also been really popular with our customers. Neutral flooring has been another common trend, especially as a contrast to cabinets or countertops.
WHAT SHIFTED
Our advice to “be bold,” with bright colors is still very much on trend, but bold doesn’t always mean bright. We’ve seen a lot of darker design choices in the office, bedroom, and bathroom, this year. So, whether you’re going light or dark, go bold.
WHAT’S NEW
There are a few trends that have popped up already in 2019. Eye-catching backsplashes have almost become a must-have in homes. Geometric designs and wild patterns are pretty commonplace now.
Fireplaces have once again reclaimed their importance as the center of a room. Many people are choosing to use their fireplaces as a design focal point with decorative tile or brick.
We’ve also seen a lot of combining chic and vintage styles for an eclectic look. For instance, chic granite counters and dark cabinets paired with vintage fixtures and natural floors.
