Sneak Peek: Parade of Homes 2021

By Paul Bielinski, CEO & VP

The Parade of Homes is back! With last year’s in-person event having been cancelled (and even though that didn’t stop us from building something special), we knew we had to go all out for the big return. Now, we don’t want to give too much away, but here’s a little teaser of what you can expect from our entry into the Parade of Homes 2021.

BY THE NUMBERS

This year’s Parade home will be The Peyton, Plan 2429. That means 2,429 square feet… unless you include the fully-finished lower level. Because then it’s 3,424 square feet. There are three bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms on the main level and one bedroom and another full bathroom in the lower level. That’s enough numbers for now.

BEYOND A HOME OFFICE

Last year we focused on adapting our home design to succeed in a world where remote work has become the norm. This year we took it even further with our 2021 home office. This fully-enclosed workspace features sliding barn doors so you can get the privacy you need during calls and meetings without feeling isolated from the rest of your home.

We’ve chosen 2021’s color of the year, Urbane Bronze, for the walls to create a dark, warm environment that’s perfect for getting things done without distraction.

This is just a teaser so we don’t want to spoil too much, but make sure you check out the built in desk made for two. Yeah, you read that right.

SECONDARY BEDROOMS DON’T TAKE A BACKSEAT

Remote work is one thing. Remote schooling is a whole ‘nother can of worms. We found a solution to help give kids a dedicated place to complete their studies so the counter isn’t covered in flash cards and times tables. We just made their bedrooms bigger.

It sounds simple, but it makes a huge difference. The extra space means that the secondary bedrooms in this year’s Parade home are big enough to accommodate a personal desk. Now there’s no more excuses for the kitchen table to be covered in looseleaf.

OPEN-EST CONCEPT

Most contemporary floor plans are open concept to an extent. This floor plan is so much more than that, partially thanks to something you probably haven’t seen before. We’ve created a coffered ceiling that runs the entire length of the kitchen and great room to not only create an incredible flow between the two spaces, but also to give you extra vertical space that opens up the main living area like you wouldn’t believe.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS

When you have to deal with long Wisconsin winters, you need to make the most out of the other seasons. This year’s Parade home features a covered outdoor living space so you can enjoy warm summer nights or even rainy spring mornings. Plus, we’ve all been spending a lot of time at home, and an accessible outdoor space is a perfect little getaway from your desk or your couch when you’ve been working too much or even when you just feel stuck inside.

BREAK A SWEAT

The lower level of the home doesn’t just boast a bedroom and a full bathroom. It also includes a workout space where you can keep active. An in-home workout space makes staying healthy a whole lot easier. No one wants to come home after a long day at work and then turn around and head to the gym, especially if you also have to worry about getting dinner ready, making sure kids are doing their homework, and every other thing that needs to get done around the house. Having a workout space right in the lower level of this year’s Parade home allows you to take care of your health on your own schedule, without it getting in the way of the rest of your life.

That’s just a little taste of what you can expect from our Parade of Homes 2021 entry. We can’t tell you every little detail. You’ll have to come and see it for yourself. The Parade of Homes 2021 runs from August 14 to September 6, 2021. Learn more at https://www.mbaonline.org/parade-of-homes-2021.html.
