Home Command Center Tips

A home has to run like a well-oiled machine to stay clean and decluttered. Take back control with these four home command center tips.

1. Choose Your Spot

Location. Location. Location. Creating a centralized area for all your organizational needs starts with picking the best place to set up camp.

Find an area that gets a lot of traffic. A corner of the kitchen, a spot in the hallway, or an easy-access home office.

By centralizing your command center it’ll be easier for everyone to get on board with things like checking the calendar or properly filing documents. It’ll also force you to keep the area neat and orderly, since it won’t be hidden away.

2. Set the Rules

Sit down with your family and lay down the ground rules about the dos and don’ts of your command center. Talk about what belongs or doesn’t belong.

Bills, schedules, and school documents should be kept there, where junk mail, backpacks, purses, kids’ homework, etc. all should be stored elsewhere.

Collectively set a monthly (or, if you’re feeling ambitious, weekly) date to go through the command center to keep it clean and functioning.

3. Go Paperless

It’s the 21st century, what's with all the paper?

We understand it’s impossible to go entirely paperless, but purchasing a nice document scanner and digitally filing your papers will save so much room. Plus, you won’t have to deal with bulky file cabinets and overflowing binders.

A family computer or tablet in your command center with access to scanned documents is the perfect way to efficiently save your documents.

Just make sure to keep physical copies of the real important stuff.

4. Stick with It

The only way a home command center is going to improve your life is if you follow the rules you set and stick with it. Sometimes life can get busy and you might feel overwhelmed, but keeping to the plan you laid out will make life so much easier in the long run.

The SQL query needed to make a Author selection needs a default for any blogs that don't have an author listed. This is that bio. If this is selected in the drop-down (which it is by default) then on the blog page we check for the ID and don't show anything if this bio is selected.

  • We chose Bielinski because they are a family-owned business and have been building in the Pewaukee area for a long time. The Clemont floor plan is just perfect for all of our family events and Packer parties.

  • Once I got settled in, I knew I was exactly where I belong. Without Bielinski’s knowledge and communication, I would still be questioning whether I should build at all. Thanks to the entire team that made this all possible.
