Finding Land to Build On
By Paul Bielinski
When it comes to your dream home, you know the what, but how about the where? Finding land to build on doesn’t have to be so hard. Here are some different ways to find the perfect lot.
Traditionally, prospective homeowners often go through a realtor to find a lot to build on. The good news is that Bielinski Homes will gladly work with your local realtor to make sure your new home is exactly what, and where, you want.
Another way to build on the perfect lot would be to tear down an existing house. Maybe you’ve had your eye on some land for years, but the house on top of it isn’t quite for you. Opting for a tear down is an involved process, though, and comes with its own set of headaches.
I’ve even heard about a couple using the Waukesha County GIS map to find a landowner who was sitting on three lots in Brookfield. A couple of phone calls later and he had found the perfect spot to build his dream home. It never hurts to get creative!
But the best way to find the right lot is going through us here at Bielinski Homes and selecting a lot in a Bielinski neighborhood. In most cases, you’ll have guaranteed lot improvements, like sewer line hookups, something that these other options often won’t include. Plus, using land that your builders are already familiar with also helps to avoid any unwanted surprises.
