Plan a Staycation
By Paul Bielinski
Are you too busy for a proper vacation? Maybe you’re just trying to save some money. Or maybe you just have a weekend off. No matter your reason, if you love where you live, try a staycation.
HOW TO STAYCATE
It doesn’t require travelling far. It doesn’t even require booking a hotel. All it requires is for you to take a little time to yourself. Staycating is about doing whatever you want to do. For some folks that might be spending time with family and friends. Others might prefer to spend some alone time working on a hobby. The key is to dedicate time to doing something that makes you happy.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
If you’re going to be doing a lot of staycating, it might be smart to create a space in your home for it. Many Bielinski customers choose to finish off a lower-level room that can act as a hobby headquarters, game room, or any other type of personal area you can think of. If that sounds like something you’re interested in, you also have the option of looking past a room’s original purpose and turning your formal dining room or home office into something a little more fun.
A souped-up kitchen (pun intended) and a luxury master bath are two more great options when it comes to tailoring your home for the perfect staycation.
HOW I DO IT
I’m a foodie and an organic junkie, so when I staycate, I cook. I’m always looking to challenge myself, so I might cook a dish that I’ve never made before, or something that takes more time than what a regular weeknight might allow. Knowing that this is where I’m happiest, I always make sure that my home is suited to my culinary needs with larger work surfaces and upgraded appliances.
