Job Summary: The Estimating Specialist will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for residential home building projects. This role is crucial in ensuring project feasibility, budget adherence, and overall financial success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for residential home building projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Bid Preparation: Develop and submit competitive bids for projects, ensuring all requirements and specifications are met.
- Quantity Takeoffs: Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings to determine material and labor requirements.
- Vendor Relations: Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
- Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of project budgets, ensuring alignment with company financial goals.
- Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of all estimates, bids, and related documentation.
- Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on estimating activities, project costs, and budget variances.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the estimating function.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associates Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating or cost analysis, preferably in the residential home building industry.
- Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical skills, proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift), and advanced Excel skills.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and strong problem-solving abilities.
