Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper is responsible for performing general accounting duties in accordance with prescribed procedures and accounting practices.  Reviews budget variances and prepares monthly and quarterly reports with results. Prepares accounting records and financial reporting.  Assists with the preparation of financial analysis and reports.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain account receivables system; invoice customers; compile and sort incoming checks; input cash received and prepare bank deposit.
  • Deposit payments received in company bank account.
  • Maintain account payables system; verify invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents; resolve discrepancies; request checks to pay invoices.
  • Prepare and mail out checks.
  • Perform bank reconciliations for checking, saving and payroll accounts.
  • Assist with other accounting functions such as taxes, monthly and yearly financial reports.
  • Prepare all monthly and quarterly financial statements in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy of the financial statements by verifying they are free from error.
  • Maintains Company depreciation records.
  • Maintains accounting records, assists with the preparation of financial reporting, tax reporting and prepares budget variance reports.
  • Monitors intercompany transactions for the Company and its subsidiaries.
  • Prepare and distribute 1099 tax returns.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Requires knowledge of company products and accounting system.

Education and Experience:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university plus three to five years related accounting experience; or eight years progressively responsible related accounting experience; or a combination of education and experience.
