Don’t look now, but the holidays are just around the corner. Before the annual panic attack starts, read these four tips for stress-free holiday entertaining.
1. TREAT YOUR FUTURE SELF BETTER
Death, taxes, and running around the house trying to find the autumnal wreath your husband swore he put on the shelf in the basement. It seems like there’s no way to avoid it.You know it’s coming, so, starting this year, think about next year when it comes time to pack up. Place decorations in labeled bins for some future brownie points.
2. BUCK TRADITION
Tired of Turkey? In a malaise of mashed potato? Sick of stuffing? Ever thought of changing it up?
We’re not saying you go full Griswold and head out to your local Chinese establishment, but variety is the spice of life. Maybe ditch one or two holiday staples, and replace them with something fun and fresh. A minor change can really revitalize an entire meal.
3. THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS PERFECTION
If there’s only one thing you take away from our list, it should be this: there is no such thing as a perfect holiday party. There will always be bumps, it’s beyond your control. Maybe it’s a well-timed temper tantrum, or maybe no one told you your second cousin was allergic to tree nuts. So don’t stress out, and remember to enjoy yourself.
4. REMEMBER WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT
At the end of the day, it’s not about who gave the best gift, or who had the best cookies. So remember to say thank you to everyone who helps you, and to offer your help to those who need it.If these five tips left you wanting more, check out our more of our entertaining blogs.
