How to Make the Most of Your Storage

Storage is about having the space and using it effectively. And if your home wasn’t built with storage in mind, then storage frustrations might be in your future. Here’s how we think about storage while designing our homes.

BASEMENT

The basement is like a blank canvas that you can use however you’d like. Your lower level could become a rec room where you can put on a movie or watch the big game. An extra bedroom. A place for hobbies or crafts. But, and maybe most importantly, your basement can also become a great source of extra storage.

All of our floor plans come with a recommended design for a lower level, but can be changed to best fit your lifestyle. This flexibility allows you to get the most out of your lower-level space, including storage solutions.

GARAGE

Over the years as families have acquired more and more things, the nature of the garage has evolved. Not only is it a place for your cars, but also your snowblowers, your patio furniture, your sports equipment, and so much more.

As the use of garages has evolved, so have our designs. Our standard two car garage is 22’x22’, larger than the industry standard of 20’x20’. Many customers also opt to upgrade with a two- or four-foot bump for even more space. If that’s still not enough for you, you can always go for the third car stall. Just between you and me, the third car stall is seldom used for a third car. Whatever your storage needs, a Bielinski garage can handle them.

CABINETS

Many customers have one word on their mind when it comes to cabinets: “more.” While having the extra space will make your life easier, it’s also important to think about how that space is being used. That’s why we offer options to help you make the most of your cabinet storage.

For instance, a pots and pans drawer doesn’t give you more space. But it does make it much easier to quickly grab exactly what you need without having to pull out a full stack of cookware.

CLOSETS

The closets in a Bielinski home are a perfect example of how being thoughtful about storage can make your life easier. When we design our floor plans, we don’t only try to maximize space for closets, we sit down and really think about how that space is going to be used. And I mean we really think about it. We’ve had whole meetings discussing the latest vacuum cleaners and how they might fit into a utility closet.

The same thought goes into our bedroom closets. By offering multiple storage options inside an already large closet, you can get even more out of it. Single poles for hanging longer items. Stacked poles for hanging shorter items. Shelves for foldable clothes, shoes, and accessories. We want to make sure that there is no wasted space in your closets.

So when you start thinking about your next home, don’t just think about the storage space, think about how to make the most of it. Take a Bielinski Homes’ virtual tour today or visit a model home to easily see the thought we put into our storage solutions right on your device.
