With every new year comes a new color of the year. Let’s take a look at some of the major paint suppliers’ color choices and talk about how you can best use these hues.
THE COLORS
CLASSIC BLUE
Photo by Pantone® Pantone chose Classic Blue as their color of the year. According to their website, Classic Blue is a timeless shade that “highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.” A perfectly confident color to start a new decade.
NAVAL
Photo by Sherwin-Williams® Sherwin-Williams chose Naval as their color of the year. Sherwin Williams calls Naval “a rich navy that creates a calm and grounding environment infused with quiet confidence.” As we enter the 2020s, Naval pays homage to the bold colors of the Art Deco movement that began in the 1920s.
FIRST LIGHT
Photo by Benjamin Moore® Benjamin Moore chose First Light as their color of the year. It is “a soft, rosy hue blooming with potential.” First Light is a hopeful color and is to be paired with Benjamin Moore’s curated palette of airy neutrals to help revitalize your home as you enter a new year.
IN YOUR HOME
With calm, grounding blues and refreshing neutrals, all three paint suppliers chose colors reflecting the beginning of a new decade. But is painting the only way can you use these colors to bring these trendy colors into your home? Of course not! Sure, the paint companies would love it if you repainted every year, but that’s definitely not the only way to utilize these colors. Bring them into your home in small splashes with furniture, cabinetry, accessories, art, rugs, fabrics, table settings, you name it. Minor changes can make your home feel totally refreshed and get you ready to take on 2020.
