March Inspo
For this month’s home inspiration, we talked to Bielinski Homes Interior Design Consultant Rebecca Wardon about what trends to look out for in March.
What trend should we be keeping an eye on this month? According to the expert, it’s all about mixing warm and cool tones, especially grays and taupes.
"It’s a beautiful trend that’s great at doing two things: bringing modern style to dated looks, and allowing new styles to be incorporated in the future."
Something like a classic oak kitchen can feel a little dated these days. Transforming the warm, monochromatic style by adding cool tones is an easy way to slingshot your home out of the past.
"Pairing gray cabinets, for example, with natural flooring will break up the flatness of a single-tone room," our style guru suggests.
The simplicity of the tones and colors also allows for future trends to be accommodated without too much hassle.
"It’s a trend with longevity in its options," she points out. "Especially if you base your new palette around your floors."
Rebecca gave the Bielinski Homes’ 2017 Parade of Homes entry as an example. "In the Clemont Parade home, we started with Iberian Hazelwood floors in Almond. We juxtaposed the light warmth with dark Maple Kona cabinets, and set it all off with the cool London Sky counters."
The floor is the center of your home’s style, but it’s inconvenient and costly to replace or update regularly, so finding a lasting look based around your floors is a wise investment.
